TUG AND THANK YOU

Playing is fun and it also helps to strengthen relationships.
One of Dante's favourite games is tug, so we made a little video showing what are the rules of tug, to have fun but also to help him develop a good level of self-control.

MUZZLE TRAINING

This video shows how to introduce the muzzle to your dog in a fun way. Associating the muzzle to fun and yummy things is very important to allow the dog to form a positive association. It is also important to take gradual steps and not to rush things, at the first sign of discomfort in the dog, it would be best to take a step back and proceed slowly.

HOMEMADE FOOD PUZZLES

Dogs love to work for food! There are many ways to make feeding time exciting and rewarding for dogs while providing mental stimulation, for example with food dispensing toys like Kongs or Snufflemats, but there are also many food puzzles that can be easily done at home :) This video shows some ideas for home made puzzles. Make sure to choose puzzles that are suitable and safe according to the dog's chewing style and always supervise your dog when he's working on his puzzles! If you'd like to have more information about food enrichment for dogs you can take a look at this great blog post by AniEd.

EXTERNAL HEALTH EXAMINATION

It is very important to check your dog's health regularly and not only during vet appointments. This video shows what to look for when performing an external health examination on a dog. Make sure to respect the dog's comfort, if you see any signals of distress, take a step back and resume.

TARGETING CHIN ON KNEES

This video shows how to teach a dog to target his chin on the person's knees. Chin on knees is a great trick to teach to every dog, besides being very cute, it comes in very handy when performing husbandry tasks such as applying eye drops, checking the nose, mouth etc.

CALM PREPARATION BEFORE WALKIES

This video shows how to teach a dog to be relaxed when fitting his collar/harness. The preparation before the walk (harness, lead, etc.) it is always a very exciting time for dogs, as they are about to go out into the world where the fun happens. However, if the excitement starts at home it means that the dog will already be aroused even before leaving the house, also some dogs dislike wearing their collars/harnesses.

LOOSE LEASH WALKING
